Foundations of Cattle Husbandry COURSE

What Every Cattle Owner Should Know About Raising Beef & Dairy Cattle Well

Whether you’re brand new to cattle or already caring for a small herd, there comes a point where guessing stops feeling acceptable.

You want to understand what you’re doing, not just follow advice from feed tags, forums, or well-meaning neighbors.

  • Healthy and productive
  • Calm and manageable
  • Supported nutritionally before problems arise
  • Cared for with confidence, not anxiety

Foundations of Cattle Husbandry was created to give you exactly that foundation.

This Course Is For You If…

  • You’re new to cattle and want to start right, not learn the hard way
  • You already own cattle but feel unsure during sickness, calving, or handling
  • You raise beef, dairy, or both on a small farm, ranch, or homestead
  • You want practical skills — not theory without application
  • You value prevention, preparedness, and good stockmanship

This is not a shortcuts course.
It’s a competence course.

What Every Cattle Owner Should Know

Healthy cattle don’t happen by accident. They are the result of:

  • Understanding how cattle function biologically
  • Recognizing normal vs. not normal
  • Feeding and managing with intention
  • Developing hands-on skills before emergencies arise

This course bridges the gap between owning cattle and knowing how to care for them well.

Why This Course Is Different

Most cattle problems don’t start as emergencies. They start as small things that were missed, misunderstood, or under-supported. This course teaches you:

  • How to see your cattle clearly
  • How to make decisions based on understanding, not fear
  • How to build skills that compound over time

It’s the kind of education your vet wishes every cattle owner had before the phone call.

Built for Real Life

This course was originally taught in person to cattle owners just like you. It’s now been thoughtfully adapted into an online, evergreen format so you can:
  • Learn at your own pace
  • Revisit lessons as your confidence grows
  • Reference material when questions come up in real time
This is education meant to be used, not just watched.

WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING ABOUT THE COURSE:

The Outcome

By the end of this course, you won’t just “know more.” You’ll:

  • Feel steadier in your decisions
  • Handle routine care with confidence
  • Notice problems earlier (or prevent them entirely)
  • Understand why you’re doing what you’re doing

That’s the difference between owning cattle… and keeping cattle well.

MEET THE HOSTS

THE HAVEN FARMSTEAD
Ben and Janelle Anderson

Hello Friends! We are the Andersons!
Ben grew up on his family's legacy beef cattle ranch in Western ND, leaving only to obtain his degree in Animal & Range Science from NDSU. Janelle grew up on a small family farm with every farm animal possible in Wisconsin. When we married, we returned to the Family Ranch and started our cow-calf ranching operation.

To say we are OBSESSED with cattle, is an understatement. We talk about cattle at least 30 times a day... I am not joking.

AND THE MORE CONVOS WE HAVE WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY
of small farms & homesteads, we have realized that foundational cattle knowledge is not something people possess. And this is where our "obsession" will be oh so helpful for YOU.

You see, we want to see not only your livestock thrive, but also your family. And we believe that is best achieved by helping you lay a foundation in cattle husbandry for both beef & dairy and/or shore it up to protect your families investment.

The Foundations of Cattle Husbandry Promise

This course will give you the knowledge, skills, and confidence to care for beef and dairy cattle responsibly — so you can make informed decisions, prevent common issues, and handle day-to-day cattle care with clarity instead of stress.
